Wall Writings That Look on The Bright Side

Words have power, and these use it for good with wall typography that encourages, uplifts and humors

It's a tough world out there, and sometimes we need a little reminder — while we're brushing our teeth, going up the stairs or flying out the front door — that everything is going to be OK. We've all seen typography around the house in the form of art prints, vintage signs and decals, but there are a select few that send us a thoughtful message and do so in style. See if the writing on the walls of these homes makes you smile, adds a little more zest to your step and has you whistling while you're commuting to work.

"Remember, as far as anyone knows were a perfectly normal family."  This hilarious entryway reminder in DIY design blogger Michelle Hinkley's home probably applies to most families out there.

"Forgive quickly."  Whenever I talk to couples who have been together for a long time, they seem to agree with the message.

"Don't let anything ever be ordinary." Kids spend loads of time in tree houses and playrooms, why not imbue them with positive, encouraging messages while they're up there?

"All because two people fell in love."  This lovely message reminds homeowners that their kids aren't just little people to schedule into a weekly calendar of soccer games, sleepovers and summer camp.

"May you live to learn well and learn to live well." This quote that can be put above the dining room table is a great reason to look up once in a while from the dinner table.

"EAT." The mandate above the window frame a kitchen is to eat — not to tweet or, a bigger mouthful, update your Facebook status.

"Live, Laugh, Leap, Love, Learn, Listen." It's going to take a few decades until your baby has a chance to practice the six L's, but it's great to plant the seeds early.

"Dream." One of the simplest and loveliest things you can put on a wall in the bedroom or on a  window-side banquette.
