Ways You Can Help in Relay for Life Effort

I've been writing about the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Southern Dallas County since January of this year. I have no idea if anyone actually reads this, but if you've been following me and have been thinking that you'd like to help but can't attend the walk, here's how you can help!

We need items for the Silent Auction! So far we have a basket of the Boyd's Daffodil Days Bears, a T-shirt quilt made from past Relay For Life T-shirts, and a handmade circular afghan done in the Relay colors of purple, red, blue and white.

In addition we will also have a Survivor Bench that we will be auctioning off.  Waukee art teacher Nick Hasty has agreed to paint the bench for us again this year. It will say RELAY FOR LIFE 2013 and SURVIVOR. The bench will then be signed by all the cancer survivors in attendance the evening of the event. Nick will then clear coat the whole thing to protect the signatures and deliver it to the winner the day after the event! While all these things are very cool, we need MORE stuff so we can raise even MORE money so we can help CURE CANCER! 

If you have something you'd like to donate to our Silent Auction, you can drop it off any time between now and June 7, at the American Cancer Society Office in Clive. You can also email me, relay4lifesdc@gmail.com, and I will make arrangements with you to pick it up. The third option is you can bring it to the Relay with you the night of June 8! I would just ask that you email me and let me know so I can be sure we have enough bidding forms available!

The main two rules for a Silent Auction basket is it CAN NOT contain any tobacco products (obvious reasons I think!). You can offer alcohol, but it cannot be in the basket during the auction. For instance, if you wanted to offer a wine lover's basket, we can list that there is a bottle of wine included, but we would have to hold the bottle in the back until after we checked the ID of the winner!
