Can You Help? Waukee School Foundation Needs Volunteers
The Waukee Community School Foundation, which raises money for the school district, is seeking residents to serve as board members.

From a news release:
The Waukee Community School Foundation is looking for additional volunteers to serve as board members, according to a news release.
The foundation was started in 1996 as another conduit for the area businesses, community members and families to support the Waukee Community School District. Members meet quarterly in April, July, October and January to discuss upcoming fundraisers and review the grant applications from our district educators. The group's major fundraisers are a golf outing in June and an auction event in November.

Money raised by the foundation goes to the following causes:
- Waukee Foundation Scholarships is a division of the WCSF. Thirty percent of all money raised is invested in an endowment fund for future scholarships.
- $10,000 each year is provided to the district for professional development. It is used by teachers for expenses related to seminars that school budgets can not be used for.
- Teachers can apply for grants with our emphasis on innovative learning aids, techniques and programs. Many of the new technologies and teaching tools started as proof-of-concept grant applications from the Waukee foundation.
