Waukee Chiropractor Brian Oswald Works to Make and Keep People Healthy
The owner of Oswald Family Chiropractic in Waukee also has a massage therapist and nutritionist on staff.
Brian Oswald calls his chiropractic philosophy “pretty simple.”
“It’s really all about helping people improve their health,” said Oswald, owner of in Waukee. “The body has a natural desire to strive toward health and healing. I help by keeping the spine aligned.”
Oswald believes in being active in the lives of his clients, whom he calls members of his practice rather than patients. “They aren’t just a number or just a client, but a person with specific needs.”

That’s why he also has a massage therapist and a nutritionist on staff. Additionally, he works with other practitioners, such as personal trainers, physical therapists, dietitians and others.
“I have lots of people I know and have worked with and sometimes I refer people to other practices,” he said.

While there are a number of chiropractors in Waukee, each chiropractor practices with his or her own philosophy. “We all share the common goal of helping people, but we all do it a little differently,” he said.
Tailoring Care to Each Person
One of his clients, Jill Eichner Brown, credits Oswald’s chiropractic work with helping her get rid of frequent migraine headaches. “One of my friends told me I should go see him, but I was skeptical. I had never been to a chiropractor before.”
While her chiropractic visits have helped considerably, she knows Oswald sends people on to other practices if he needs to. “I had recommended a friend see him and she went. After some evaluation Oswald told her chiropractic wasn’t the answer for her.”
Eichner Brown said she continues to go for adjustments because it helps her so much.
Oswald explained he focuses on identifying what can be done for a person and done safely, or referring the patient to someone else. “I’m very proud of what we have been able to do here and the successes we’ve had,” he said. “We haven’t been able to help everyone, but we are able to identify that right away.”
Clinic members appreciate having a nutritionist on staff and some take advantage of that option, Oswald said, if they are working to become healthier or stay healthy.
That can also be true of massage therapy, which is offered at the clinic. The massage therapy program keeps in mind the proper nerve system, proper nutrients, proper exercise and positive mental attitude.
Oswald moved to Waukee to open his practice in 2006 and also to be closer to family in the area. He has a bachelor’s degree in communications and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He practiced in DeWitt with another chiropractor until his move to Waukee.
