January 28, 2021
Nearly a foot of snow fell in Waukee on Jan. 25-26, 2021. Public Works and Parks & Rec crews spent 336 staff hours clearing Waukee's 220 lane miles of paved roads, 20+ lane miles of gravel roads, trails and other City facilities! There were 27 staff members assisting with these efforts. Due to the length of the winter storm and ongoing accumulation, most City streets had to be plowed three or four times. A total of 96 tons of salt and 444 gallons of Beet 55 mixture were used to treat roads and ensure surfaces were passable and safe. The approximate cost of cleaning up the Jan. 25-26 storm, with labor and materials included, was $47,000.
