City of Waukee Accepting Applications to Fill Council Vacancy

The Waukee City Council plans to appoint its next member following the resignation of Dan Dutcher last week, according to a press release issued by the city.

Dutcher announced his resignation last week, citing personal reasons for the decision. The city council received it at a special meeting Monday night.

Whomever is appointed will be required to fullfill the rest of Dutcher's term, which was set to expire on Dec. 31, 2013.

Individuals who would like to be considered for the position should submit a letter of interest to the Waukee City Clerk, 230 Hickman Rd., by 5 p.m. on April 17.

The city council will review applicants at its April 29 meeting and is expected to make the appointment at its May 6 meeting.

A special election could still be held should Waukee residents file a petition with the city clerk within 14 days of the appointment.
