Countdown Begins for Opening of New Hy-Vee Store in Waukee

The wait is almost over. Hy-Vee’s new 90,039-square-foot Waukee store opens at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The store, located at 1005 Hickman Road, is West Des Moines Hy-Vee’s largest store to date, the Des Moines Register reports. It’s similar to one in Urbandale at the intersection of Douglas Avenue and 86th Street.

The store will be open around-the-clock and will employ 600 full- and part-time workers. Brandon Lampkin is the new store director.

Besides general grocery items, other features include a restaurant, sushi bar and bakery, as well as meat, cheese, liquor health food, other specialty departments and a pharmacy.

The Hy-Vee complex also includes a gas station and Caribou Coffee shop opened previously.
