The Register's story said Taylor Hale of Waukee was lying on the street and not breathing when police arrived at the intersection of Northwest 161st Street and Boston Parkway Friday night in Clive. Hale was taken to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines with head injuries.
Prior to the injury, Hale and another teen had been sitting on a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old Urbandale boy while they and other teens were gathered at an area residence, the Register quoted police as saying.

The Urbandale teen then began to drive away with the two youths on his vehicle “in a reckless manner, reportedly at high speed, along with hard braking and sharp turns,” Clive Police said in the Register story. The other teen was not injured.
Clive police said the car's driver was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury, an aggravated misdemeanor, and causing injury with a motor vehicle, a class D felony. He was released to his parents. His case will be handled by Dallas County Juvenile Court.
