Dunkin' Donuts Planning New West Des Moines Location

Get excited, Waukee. Dunkin' Donuts has announced plans to build a second West Des Moines location, and this one is close to you.

According to the Des Moines Register, Des Moines businessman and doughnut dealer Drew Cownie intends to open three Dunkin' Donuts locations in the metro by the end of this year.

The new West Des Moines store will be located at 8950 University Ave., Suite 101, the article said, and will likely be open early to mid-summer.

Cownie and his father and business partner, Jim Cownie, own the first West Des Moines Dunkin' Donuts, located at 1301 Eighth St.

Cownie also plans to build stores in Des Moines and Urbandale, the article said. His West Des Moines store is slated to be the first of the three to open.

The Register reports Cownie is expected to develop a total of 12 Dunkin’ Donuts stores as part of a franchise agreement with the Massachusetts-based company.

Brother and sister team Jeff Kelderman and Lori Kelderman High recently opened an Ames location, and will also open a Dunkin' Donuts in Ankeny this summer.
