SEPTEMBER 13: SONNY SIMMONS & MICHAEL MARCUS
Hear what happens when a living legend of the 1960s New York jazz scene (Sonny Simmons) teams up with a saxophonist that cut his teeth with blues bands in the 1970s (Michael Marcus) take on the music of Charlie Parker. Accompanied by drummer Jay Rosen (of Trio X), the trio captures the excitement and energy of “Bird,” but with the defining element of jazz — “the sound of surprise.” Simmons and Marcus have been performing together since 2000 when they formed the band Cosmosamatics. Simmons also has the distinction of being one of the few jazz reed players to master the English horn! And it all happens in the intimate setting of Caspe Terrace's 150-seat auditorium.
