Five Young Waukee 'Dudes' Totally Busted -- Guess What For?

Five teenage boys face drug charges after someone reported they were smoking behind Prairieview School. School resource officers found rather than tobacco cigarettes, the youths had marijuana.

A Waukee resident who saw a group of underage boys smoking Feb. 1 behind tipped officers off to a bigger offense.

The boys were smoking marijuana, police said, and had drug paraphernalia on them when school resource officers arrived. The caller had assumed the boys were smoking tobacco cigarettes.

Two 14-year-old boys and three 15-year-olds were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The boys were charged and released to their parents.
