Former Waukee School Board Member to Fill Vacant Seat

Chuck Van Devander resigned his school board seat at last week's meeting. He is taking a job out of state.

Waukee school board member Chuck Van Devander resigned from the group at last week's board meeting because he’s moving to Houston for a new job, the Des Moines Register reports.

Board members will be asked to appoint former board member and board president Tracy Lepeltak to the vacant seat at their June 10 meeting, the newspaper said. Lepeltak previously served on the board, including as its president, and is a counselor in the Des Moines school system.

The seat that was held by Van Devander and three others will be on the ballot in the Sept. 10 election.
