Heavy Rains Topple Tree Onto Road: Waukee Police Reports

June 4
A vehicle driven by Janet Pilcher of 2824 E. 16th St., Des Moines, was eastbound in the first block of Northview Drive. After stopping at a stop sign Pilcher's vehicle continued eastbound when police said a vehicle driven by Steven Martinez of 217 N.W. 144th St., Clive, which was northbound on Warrior Lane, reportedly continued from a stop sign and struck Pilcher's vehicle. Damage was estimated at $8,000.

A vehicle driven by Nicole Tjaden of 4233 162nd St., Urbandale, was eastbound in the 300 block of Southeast University Avenue when she stopped at a light. Police said a vehicle driven by Colette Earney of 15234 Wildwood Drive, Clive, rear-ended Tjaden's vehicle. Damage was estimated at $5,000. Earney was cited for failure to maintain control. Tjaden was cited for failure to have a valid driver's license.

June 5

A vehicle driven by Juan Guerrero-Morales of 45 Northview Drive, Waukee, was eastbound in the 3200 block of Ashworth Road. Because of heavy rain Guerrero-Morales did not see a large tree that had fallen on the road and struck it. Damage was estimated at $2,000.

Jared Bevins, 21, of 1216 N. Birch St., Creston, was arrested at the intersection of Southeast L.A. Grant Parkway and Ashworth Road. He was charged with driving while suspended and speeding.
