Icy Roads Cause Car Crashes: Waukee Police Blotter

Dec. 26
A vehicle driven by Joseph White, of Grover, MO, was backing out of a driveway on Southeast Holiday Crest Circle. At the same time a vehicle driven by Carmen Clavel Borrero of Des Moines was westbound on Southeast Holiday Crest Circle and was unable to stop because of ice on the road. Borrero's vehicle struck White's vehicle, police said, causing $8,000 damage total.

Dec. 27
A vehicle driven by Jerome Levorson of DeSoto was backing out of a driveway in the 600 block of Southeast Wood Creek Drive when it struck a legally parked vehicle, police said. Damage was estimated at $400.

A legally parked vehicle in the 200 block of East Laurel Street was struck by an unknown vehicle. Damage was estimated at $500.
Dec. 28
A vehicle driven by Malkan Pilipovic of West Des Moines was stopped at a southbound stop sign on Southeast Brentwood Drive and attempting to turn left onto Southeast University Avenue. Police said Pilipovic's vehicle struck a westbound vehicle on University driven by April Rabik of Waukee. Damage was estimated at $2,000. Pilipovic was cited for failure to yield upon making a left turn.
