ICYMI: Waukee Girls' Streak of State Tourney Visits Ends at Five
The Waukee High School girls' basketball team has competed in the state tournament each of the last five years. But Cedar Rapids Washington crushed the Warriors' hopes for a return trip this week.

The Waukee High School girls’ streak of five straight state basketball tournament appearances ended Tuesday with a 61-54 loss to Cedar Rapids Washington, according to the Dallas County News.
The newspaper coverage of the game said:
The Warriors led by a point at halftime, but saw Washington rally and begin to pull away in the second half.

Britney Boland, a Truman State University recruit, finished with 20 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots in her final game for the Warriors. Taylor Wingert sank a trio of 3-pointers and finished with 16 points and four assists, and Megan Shryack had nine points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Ashley Dalsing added seven points.
The Warriors reached the regional final with a 52-32 victory over Johnston on Feb. 16. Boland accumulated 21 points, 10 boards and four blocks. Wingert and Ellie Bunz each scored six.

Waukee finished the year with a record of 17-6.
