Iowans Take Jethro’s BBQ Seriously
The local chain opened in Des Moines' Drake neighborhood, then added locations in Waukee/West Des Moines, Ankeny and Altoona. Another location is set to open in Johnston.

By mid-day Wednesday, the post had generated 33 comments.
Wings, brisket and Jalapeno creamed corn (“It will make your nose run,” one fan notes) are favorites. The mac-’n’-cheese also gets strong reviews.

The restaurant’s fame comes in part from the Adam Emmenecker Challenge, when competition eaters line up to see who can devour the ginormous sandwich, which includes pork tenderloin, Angus steak burger, brisket, bacon, fried cheese and buffalo chicken tenders, cheese sauce, plus fries.
But only one fan has mentioned it so far. Kevin Ronfeldt said it “kicked my butt,” but he’s going to give it another competitive try.
