Jethro’s BBQ n’ Jambalaya Brings Cajun Flavor to Waukee, West Des Moines

Jethro’s BBQ n’ Jambalaya is a full service restaurant where anyone can come sit down, get waited on and enjoy barbecue, Cajun cuisine and much more.

Each Jethro’s location in the Des Moines metro has barbecue and a special theme. The barbecue and Jambalaya is unique to Waukee’s Jethro’s -- which is technically in West Des Moines but billed as the business' Waukee location.

Callin Prieskorn is the general manager of Jethro’s BBQ n’ Jambalaya.

"We have barbecue, Cajun is what we feature, alcoholic beverages, ice cream desserts, there is everything,” Prieskorn said.

Prieskorn said Jethro’s BBQ n’ Jambalaya has a specific to-go station, where anyone who orders food can pick it up right away. The feature is unique to this location.

“The volume of to-go can get big, especially on those busy nights,” Prieskorn said. “It’s nice to have a separate area where people can come in and get out really fast.”

Prieskorn said the cook time on food is also fast.

“We generally run a fast time on our food and people are surprised,” Prieskorn said. “The ticket time is roughly seven minutes.”

Don't feel you can only come in if you plan to eat a meal -- just drop by to hang out.

“You don’t have to be coming in just for the dinner, it’s a fun environment, the TVs, the sports and friends,” Prieskorn said.

On Fridays and Saturdays the blackened prime rib is the special. On Mondays, the prime rib slider is the special. On Tuesdays, wings are buy one-get one and on Thursdays the boneless wings are half price.

The longest wait time for a table is about 20 to 30 minutes on the weekend.
