Mike Sites of 2420 S.E. Sixth St., Des Moines, was charged or arrested three times on May 1 for a series of domestic abuse calls and a car crash with relatives that Waukee police said Sites intentionally caused.

Vehicles driven by Scott Johnson of 35 Hidden Cove Court, Youngsville, N.C., and Casey Johnson of 2498 Adams St., Cumming, were eastbound in the 1100 block of Braden Court when a vehicle driven by Sites reportedly struck Casey Johnson's vehicle. The impact pushed the first Johnson's vehicle into Scott Johnson's vehicle. Damage was estimated at $4,000. Sites was cited for reckless driving.

Waukee Police Lt. Troy Mapes said Sites intentionally hit the vehicles because they were his wife’s relatives. Officers had served Sites with a no-contact protective order about 30 minutes earlier to stay away from his wife.

Sites was then arrested 15 minutes later at the intersection of Collins Drive and Brayden Court and charged with violation of the domestic abuse protection order.

The third round of charges came later while Sites was in custody at the Dallas County Jail. Police charged him with domestic assault and obstruction of emergency communications.

The domestic assault occurred the previous evening when Sites kept the victim from calling 911. Mapes said police charged Sites the following day with the additional offense when he was at the jail.
