Meet the New Waukee City Administrator at Tuesday Reception
Tim Moerman, the incoming city administrator for Waukee, will meet residents at a public reception on Feb. 12. He begins work on Feb. 18.

Waukee residents are invited attend a public reception for the newly appointed City Administrator Tim Moerman from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 1. in the Waukee City Council Chambers, 230 W. Hickman Road, according to a city news release.
A short program will begin at 5 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres provided.
Moerman comes to the City of Waukee with more than 25 years of professional local government experience with emphasis in city management and economic development. Most recently he has served as an assistant city manager for Ankeny overseeing special projects and economic development.

Moerman has worked in several Iowa communities, including Jefferson, Sibley, Dubuque, and Mason City.
Moerman received his undergraduate degrees in business administration and accounting from Dordt College and later a master's degree in public administration from Iowa State University.

He will begin his new role as Waukee City Administrator on Feb. 18.
City leaders said in their release that the new administrator will work to continue commercial and residential growth and the construction and development of the Alice’s Road corridor.
Previous city administrator Jeff Kooistra resigned in May 2012, receiving a severance package which continued his $122,300 annual salary for six months and continued his insurance into November. Kooistra's resignation came in the aftermath of an April 16 meeting when Waukee council members openly criticized the city administration.
Council members then appointed Development Services Director Brad Deets, a five-year city employee, as interim city administrator.
Moerman’s contract will pay him a prorated, annual base salary of $132,000 through the rest of the city’s fiscal year, the Des Moines Register reports. His base salary will be $134,000 for the fiscal year that begins July 1. In addition, the city will provide Moerman with a car allowance of $400 per month.
