At Lund Motors in Waukee, employees keep all kinds of motors running, from mild to wild.
Whether you need an oil change or you’ve got a need for speed, you’ll find it at Lund Motors at the corner of Fourth Street and Ashworth Drive in Waukee. Father and son duo Bob and Chris Lund opened the doors on Lund Motors in 1998. While they do plenty of tune-ups, the shop specializes in building unique hot rods.
In its body shop, Lund Motors has a chassis dyno, a device that measures the power output of a vehicle’s engine. As the vehicle’s wheels spin, the force turns a large drum mounted on the dyno. By measuring that resistance, Chris Lund is able to figure out how much power the engine is making.
The dyno can also be used as a tuning device. Testing the engine before and after tune-ups will often show a substantial increase in power.
