Recent Snowstorm Wreaks Havoc on Roads: Waukee Police Blotter

Multiple car accidents were reported last week when the area received about 5 inches of snow and faced strong winds. Check out today's Waukee Police reports.

Jan. 30

A vehicle driven by Mason Hampton of Clive was southbound in the 1000 block of Southeast Waco Place when he lost control and the vehicle struck a fire hydrant and tree. Vehicle damage was estimated at $1,500; damage to the hydrant was estimated at $2,000. Hampton was cited for failure to maintain control.

A vehicle driven by Randolph Allison of Waukee was southbound in the 400 block of Alice's Road when a northbound vehicle driven by McKenzie Rothmeyer of Waukee hit a patch of ice, striking Allison's vehicle. Damage was estimated at $8,000.

A vehicle driven by Richard Farrell of Redfield was westbound in the 900 block of Hickman Road when it hit a patch of ice and slid off the road, striking a light polie. Vehicle damage was estimated at $1,500; damage to the light pole was estimated at $6,000.

Jan. 31

A vehicle driven by Nicholas Embree of Adel was westbound in the 900 block of Hickman Road when he slowed for traffic because of the road conditions. Driver Daniel Boatman of Urbandale applied his vehicle's brakes to avoid hitting Embree's vehicle and rear-ended Embree, then Boatman's vehicle slid into a vehicle driven by Monica Atherton of Waukee that was in the neighboring westbound lane. Atherton's vehicle slid across the median and struck an eastbound vehicle driven by Caroline Hannon of Waukee. Vehicle damage was estimated at $6,700.
