The Strengthening Families Program is a seven week skills-building program offered through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. It is for parents to attend with their youth ages 10-14. Strengthening Families will assist families in building and/or maintaining a positive relationship during the challenging teen years, preventing teen substance abuse and other behavior problems, and strengthening parent/youth communication and problem solving skills.
Strengthening Families is being offered through Waukee Community Education. It will be held at Waukee Elementary School, 850 6th St., beginning Sunday, October 6, 2013 through November 17, 2013. Each week a free meal is provided at 5 pm for those attending along with free child care for younger children! Class is from 5:30 – 7:30 pm and the cost is $19 per family. Plus there will be family and youth prize giveaways!
