Thankful Dirt Headlines at Waukee's ArtsCentral Feb. 16
The Des Moines-based trio Thankful Dirt will perform next weekend at Waukee's ArtsCentral. Tickets are available at Waukee Hardware or at the door.

Thankful Dirt will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at ArtsCentral, 405 Maple St. in Waukee. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and are available at Waukee Hardware or at the door based on availability.
Darren and Molly Matthews, the Indie/Americana Des Moines-based songwriting duo Thankful Dirt, developed their musical artistry in Iowa's music scene, according to a news release. Though their musical backgrounds differ, electricity sparks when they write and perform songs.

“We are thrilled to have these very talented musicians perform at ArtsCentral,” said Cindy DePond with the Waukee Area Arts Council. “Molly's clear and complex voice and Darren’s masterful guitar combine for an evening not to be missed.”
Trumpet and piano player Erik Brown joined forces with them in the summer of 2011, and they have been working as a trio ever since.

Since joining musical forces, they've performed at various Midwest venues, including coffee shops, benefits, area bars and events, including Little Big Fest, 80/35 and Des Moines Arts Festival.
