U-Turn, Unsafe Backing Cause Traffic Accidents: Waukee Police Blotter

March 12
A vehicle driven by Martin Julstrom of 5932 Village Circle, Johnston, was westbound in the 800 block of University Avenue. When Julstrom tried to make a U-turn his vehicle allegedly struck a westbound vehicle driven by Mackenzie Gross of 1608 Rapids St., Adel. Damage was estimated at $100.

March 13
A vehicle driven by Courtney Parker of 305 Gray Ave., Waukee, was eastbound in the 200 block of Gray Avenue Avenue. Because of limited windshield visibility, police said Parker's vehicle struck a legally parked vehicle. Damage was estimated at $6,000.

Vehicles driven by Larry Haus of 3206 Raccoon St., Des Moines, and Jennifer Pyle, 14941 Summit Drive, Clive, were eastbound on Southeast University Avenue and stopped for the traffic signal in the left-turn lane at the intersection with Alice's Road. After the light turned green, the vehicle in front of Haus did not move because it was broken down. Haus tried to back up to make the left turn and reportedly struck Pyle's vehicle. Damage was estimated at $2,000. Haus was cited for unsafe backing on a highway.
