UPDATE: Waukee Warriors Trounce Bulldogs
The Warriors welcomed the Ottumwa Bulldogs tonight at Waukee Stadium. The Warriors claimed a victory, 60-19.
The Waukee Warriors football team came into Friday night's game with a 1-2 record, ready to notch another win against the winless Ottumwa Bulldogs. The Warriors claimed a victory, 60-19.
It was the Warriors' second home game. Their first was a dramatic 28-21 win against Sioux City East two weeks ago.
"It's pretty easy playing at home," said senior linebacker Nick Peters. "You don't have to travel at all, and you get a good meal in before the game. So having a home crowd helps, we have a big stadium, it helps out that way."

The Bulldogs' 0-3 record is certainly a dissapointing one, but may be a bit misleading. Much like Waukee, the Bulldogs have had a btutal schedule to start the season. Their previous three foes have a combined record of 7-2.
"They run the ball a lot and their QB is a pretty good athlete, he's pretty fast, so we'll have to keep him contained," said Peters.

Last season, the Warriors pounded Ottumwa 31-7 to record their first win of the season. Head coach Scott Carlson says his kids have forgotten.
"They understand that this is a new year and both schools have different teams," Carlson said. "If you're hanging your hat on something that happened a year ago, it's going to be a short trip to lack of success."
Carlson said if the Warriors are going to have success again this Friday night, they're going to have to run the ball better.
Last week in a 35-0 loss to Southeast Polk, the Warriors managed only 16 rushing yards.
"We've got to do a better job up front," Carlson said. "That's where our focus has been this week is the line, because our offense begins and ends with the running game. And if we can't run the ball, it's going to be a tough game for us."
Kickoff will be tonight at 7:30 at Waukee Stadium.
