WATCH: It's So Fluffy! The Story Behind Iowa's Own Viral Cows
How photos of thickly coated, coiffed Iowa show cattle became an Internet sensation.

Here in Iowa, we know a thing or two about cows.
However, some of the state's cows are getting a little extra attention these days – Iowa's fluffy cows, to be exact.
In May, someone posted a photo of Texas Tornado, a fluffy cow owned by father and son cattlemen Phil and Matt Lautner of Adel, on the social media site Reddit, according to the Des Moines Register.Â
That and other photos of thickly coated, coiffed show cattle went viral, and the hashtag #fluffycow trended on Twitter, the article said.
When Matt Lautner discovered the cows had went viral, he started an official Fluffy Cows Facebook page. The page has over 20,000 likes.
The Lautners have explained how cattle exhibitors wash, comb and blow-dry hair sometimes twice a day to get the coveted fluffy look.
"Before the show, these animals are treated to a day at the 'salon,' where they use hair sprays, oils, and clippers to cut, style and fluff up the hair," according to Lautnerfarms.com.
Ashtyn Danker, stylist for fluffy cow Sadie, told KCCI Channel 8 that the whole beauty queen bit is just a 4H project.
"I think it's pretty crazy that it just started from farm kids showing cattle," Danker told the television station.
Today.com, Buzzfeed and other websites have also jumped on the fluffy cow bandwagon.
