Waukee Boys' Swim Team Nabs Second Place at Districts, Ready for State

Waukee had a monumental district swim meet, finishing in second place behind Dowling, but everyone at the meet would say the score was deceiving when the actual competition level was looked at.

We had every single race score all three of our entries and had at least one guy on the podium in all 11 events. The qualifiers, times and seedings for this weekend are included, but owe a lot of it to many families and my assistant for making this possible. The bar has been set very high for future swimmers of the program!

The Warriors scored 1,580 power points compared to 1,178 at last year's district meet. That puts the Waukee team seeded 7th going into the state meet on Saturday at Marshalltown with 9 of the 11 events represented.

Waukee had a lot of firsts: two swimmers in the same event (200 free and 100 breaststroke), as well as all three relays qualifying.

State Qualifiers include:

200 IM- Jordan Reinard-6th Seed (1:58.94)

100 Fly-Brett Shaw-24th Seed (55.99)500 Free-Sam Weyers-24th Seed (5:04.05)

200 Free Relay-NEW SCHOOL RECORD- JT Trible, Garrett Rowe, Josh Georgeff, Jack Scafuri-1:30.29 (11th seed)

100 Back-Jack Scafuri-4th Seed (53.39)-NEW SCHOOL RECORD!

100 Breast-Jordan Reinard-6th Seed (1:00.04) and Josh Georgeff- 18th Seed (1:02.58)

400 Free Relay-NEW SCHOOL RECORD!- JT Trible, Garrett Rowe, Jordan Reinard, Jack Scafuri-3:21.13 (14th Seed)

JT Trible also set the new school record in the 50 free (22.74) and just missed the cut (22.66).

Coach Zorn and I also had the icing on the cake by receiving the Coach of the District Award. Can't wait to see what these guys will do at State!
