Waukee Council OKs Purchase of Vehicles for Fire Department
Shottenkirk Chevrolet will sell the city two vehicles for a total cost of about $60,000.

The Waukee City Council last week approved the purchase of a pickup truck and a sport utility vehicle for the fire department.
The Des Moines Register reports council members voted 3-0 to purchase a pickup truck for about $33,000, which will be able to carry a pod station for fighting grass fires and also function as a flatbed pickup truck. And the council approved purchasing a sport utility vehicle for $27,685. Both vehicles were purchased from Shottenkirk Chevrolet.
The department’s 1998 model grass fire truck has been used little in recent years, as Waukee has shifted from the more rural community it was when the truck was purchased, Fire Chief Clint Robinson said in the Register story.

Robinson said the 1998 vehicle would be sold to help pay for the new vehicles. In addition, money from the sale of the city’s old fire engine will help buy the vehicles.
