Waukee Council to Hold Special Meeting Thursday on Alice's Road Project

The city is working to finalize agreements with landowners along the route of the Alice's Road project.

The Waukee City Council will hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday to consider agreements with landowners affected by the Alice’s Road Corridor project, according to the Des Moines Register.

If the agreements are approved, the city will have permission to build a six-lane road on property owned by the Richard W. Giles Revocable Trust, Linda M. and Dallas Hakeman, and Marlene M. and Dan Warren. Other landowners include Beasley Farms, Inc. and Ashworth Properties Development, Inc.

The city is still trying to come to agreement with additional property owners with land near the proposed roadway, interim city administrator Brad Deets told the newspaper.

All the agreements set to come before the council on Thursday give extensive details of easements to be made by landowners.

In exchange, the city is to grade six lanes of roadway, install storm sewer, watermain, and three lanes of paved roadway, according to city documents. The Ashworth development plan makes way for construction of a retention pond.
