Waukee High School Vocalists Share 'Festival of Peace' With Audiences

This is the third year for the event, with features several choruses, a string ensemble, brass ensemble and children's chorus.

The Waukee High School Vocal Music Department will present the third annual “Festival of Peace” at 7 p.m. tonight and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the school district website.

The event features the 9th Grade Chorus, 10th Chorale, Intermezzo, A Cappella, String Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Children’s Chorus.

Families are invited to attend. This event is modeled after the “festival of choirs” at St. Olaf, Luther and Concordia colleges, all known for their music programs. The concert will feature a combination of poetic readings and reflection, audience “carol” sing, plus musical interludes by the guest symphony string and brass ensembles, the website says.

The auditorium and commons of the high school will be decorated to reflect the seasonal nature of the musical presentation. There will be refreshments served during intermission compliments of the Vocal Music Boosters.
