Waukee Hy-Vee Construction Continues Despite Blustery Weather: Photos
Snow on the ground and strong north winds earlier in the week didn't stop crews from their work on the massive new Hy-Vee Food Store under construction in Waukee.
Winter weather that lingered into March hasn't slowed construction on the roughly 87,000-square-foot Waukee Hy-Vee storeΒ at Aliceβs and Hickman roads.
The store will be among the largest in the chain when it opens. New stores cost the company about $15 million to build, the company told the Des Moines Register.
The site plan for the Waukee location calls for a pharmacy, cafeteria and coffee shop, among other things and will employ between 450-500 people once it's open in late summer.
