Waukee's Miranda McCay Playing Softball for Luther College

Miranda McCay, a 2012 graduate of Waukee High School, is a member of the 2013 Luther College softball team, according to a news release from the college.

McCay, a freshman, was a three-year letter winner in softball for the Warriors and served as a team captain, the release said. She helped lead the Warriors to three consecutive Central Iowa Metropolitan League Championships. McCay was also an academic all-conference honoree. 

The Norse, who have made three consecutive trips to the NCAA III National Championship Finals, begin the 2013 campaign ranked third in the nation. The Norse will begin the regular season schedule with a double header at the Rochester Dome vs. University Wisconsin-Stout on March 6, at 5:30 p.m. Luther’s home opener is scheduled for April 3, against Wartburg College at 3 p.m. 

Luther is led by two-time Iowa Conference Coach of the Year Renae Hartl, who begins her 12th season at the helm of the Norse program. During her tenure, she has posted a record of 330-136. Hartl’s teams have captured Iowa Conference championships in 2007, 2011 and 2012, made five NCAA III National Tournament appearances in the last six years.

McCay is the daughter of Keith and Brenda McCay of Waukee
