Waukee Police Blotter: Dec. 8 Snowfall Leads to Two Accidents

Waukee police responded to a number of calls Dec. 5-12 including public intoxication, warrant arrests, motor vehicle accidents and theft and burglary.

Snowfall leads to slick roads, accidents

Waukee's first December snowfall caused slippery road conditions and two reported accidents on the evening of Dec. 8.

At 7:40 p.m., a vehicle driven by Bruce Archer of Norwalk was stopped at a stop sign at Ashworth Road and L.A. Grant Parkway when a vehicle driven by Brad Epperly of West Des Moines was attempting to make a right turn and slid into Archer's vehicle. Vehicle damage was estimated at $2,200.

A second accident at 8:33 p.m. occurred at the corner of Southeast University Avenue and Alice's Road when a vehicle driven by Andrew Freeman of Adel rear-ended a vehicle driven by Marilyn Cummings of Waukee. Icy roads prevented Freeman from stopping. Vehicle damage was estimated at $2,600.

Dec. 5

Joseph Anderson, 23, of Waukee was charged with public intoxication.

Amphay Inthapone, 31, of Waukee was arrested on a Dallas County warrant for parole violation.

David Stilley of Waukee reported burglary to a vehicle in the 3200 block of Sixth Street.

Dec. 6

Steven Jones, 23, was arrested on a Polk County warrant for a probation violation.

A vehicle driven by Kathy Ohde of Redfield was struck by a vehicle driven by Amy Guthrie of Waukee. Vehicle damage was estimated at $1,300.

Waukee Public Works employees reported criminal mischief to a stop sign at the intersection of Southeast Prairie Park Lane and Southeast Parkview Crossing Drive. 

Dec. 8

A representative for The Village of Legacy Pointe reported a theft in the 1600 block of Holiday Crest Circle.

Dec. 10

Andrew Wilson, 21, of Waukee was charged with driving while barred. Wilson was cited for no proof of insurance.

A report of harassment was taken in the 100 block of Kingsdale Drive.

Dec. 12

Darryl Sorenson, 42, of West Des Moines was charged with operating while intoxicated.
