Waukee Superintendent Given Performance Evaluation in Open Session
Even though state law could have provided for a closed session, Waukee school district superintendent Dave Wilkerson requested it be done in front of the public.

Waukee school district Superintendent Dave Wilkerson received good marks from the school board Monday during his annual performance review, the Des Moines Register reports.
Wilkerson asked that the evaluation be done in open session, although state law says he could have requested it be conducted in closed session, the article said. It also stated Wilkerson said part of why he requested to receive the board’s critique during open session was to let kids in attendance from a local Boy Scouts of America troop see how public officials were held accountable.
The Register also reported that board members praised Wilkerson during the meeting and gave input as to what his goals should be for next year.
