What New Movies Are You Going to Watch on New Year's Day 2012?

Several new movies premiered in theaters on Christmas Day, and you can find out what all the buzz is about by heading to the show today.

"Django Unchained"

  • Summary: A former slave (Jamie Foxx)and a German bounty hunter become unlikely allies in the battle against a tyrannical plantation owner in this western from visionary director Quentin Tarantino.

"Les Miserables"

  • Rated: PG-13
  • Summary: "The King's Speech's" Tom Hooper directs this adaptation of Cameron Mackintosh's successful musical version of Victor Hugo's classic novel. The drama surrounds the obsessive quest of Inspector Javert (Russell Crowe) as he spends years in an effort to capture escaped convict Jean Valjean.

  • Summary: Billy Crystal and Bette Midler star as Artie and Diane -- an old-school grandfather and his people-pleasing wife, who babysit for their three decidedly 21st century grandchildren while the kids' type-A parents (played by Marisa Tomei and Tom Everett Scott) are away for work.

"West of Memphis"

  • Summary: Although the infamous case of the West Memphis Three has already been the subject of three first-class documentaries from director Joe Berlinger, Amy Berg's "West of Memphis" again explores the oft-documented incarceration of three teenagers for a triple homicide that many believe they never committed.

"Jack Reacher"

  • Rated: PG-13
  • Summary: In an innocent heartland city, five are shot dead by an expert sniper. The police quickly identify and arrest the culprit, and build a slam-dunk case. But the accused man claims he's innocent and says "Get Jack Reacher." Reacher (Tom Cruise) sees the news report and turns up in the city. The defense is immensely relieved, but Reacher has come to bury the guy. Shocked at the accused's request, Reacher sets out to confirm the man's guilt, but comes up with more than he bargained for.
