What's Open and Closed in Waukee on Presidents' Day?
Next week is Presidents' Day. Take a look at what's open and what's closed in Waukee on the holiday.

Presidents' Day may be known more for its mattress sales than as a holiday for Americans to honor the legacy of former presidents.
Formerly known as George Washington's birthday, Presidents' Day is celebrated the third Monday of February -- Feb. 18 this year -- and is considered a federal holiday.
Many state and federal offices are closed that day, and in Waukee, all city offices will be closed Feb. 18. Although the Waukee City Council typically meets on the first and third Mondays of the month, the City Council will not meet that night. The meeting has been rescheduled for Feb. 19 at 5:30 p.m.

Presidents' Day is also a postal holiday, which means there is no mail delivery Feb. 18. Delivery will resume the next day.
There is no delay in garbage collection today. Pick-ups are as scheduled.

Students in the Waukee School District will be in class Feb. 18. There is no early dismissal due to the holiday.
The Waukee Public Library will also be closed Feb. 17 and 18 in observance of the Presidents' Day holiday. The library will reopen Feb. 19 at 9:30 a.m.
According to an Iowa Bankers Association Holiday Survey, 93 percent of banks are closed on Presidents' Day.
