Wilkerson's Good Job Review Earns 3.5 Percent Raise

The Waukee school board voted unanimously to increase Superintendent Dave Wilkerson's pay under a new three-year contract.

Waukee Schools Superintendent Dave Wilkerson will received a travel allotment and a 3.5 percent raise under a new contract unanimously approved by the school board July 8, the Des Moines Register reports.

The board approved the terms of Wilkerson’s new contract on a 5-0 vote, with members Russ Wiesley and Larry Lyon absent, the newspaper said.

The contract sets a base salary of $185,000 for the first year of the contract, up from last year's salary of $178,497, district chief financial officer Lora Appenzeller-Miller said in the story.

School board members gave Wilkerson a positive review in May; he has been the district's superintendent since 2004, the Register said.

The contract also gives Wilkerson $600 per month for travel in Dallas and Polk Counties, plus other travel expenses if approved by the board.
