5 Things For Your West Des Moines Day Planner
Public meetings are in full swing, and teens have a change to influence library programming and the collection for young adults.

Monday
- The West Des Moines school board meets for a workshop and regular session, with both meetings to be held at the Learning Resource Center, 3550 Mills Civic Pkwy. The workshop session begins at 5:15 pm., the regular meeting at 7.
- The West Des Moines City Council meets at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 4200 Mills Civic Pkwy., for a mostly routine meeting. During the citizens’ hearing Friends of the Val Air Ballroom will present a petition asking that the venue be exempt from the city’s noise ordinance.
Wednesday
- The West Des Moines Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board is taking membership applications from junior and senior high school students at a meeting to be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the second-floor classroom. The Teen Advsisory Board provides input on teen activities and also helps develop the library’s collection of materials for young adults, hosts fundraisers for teen programming at the library, helps with children’s programs and participates in community activities. - The West Des Moines Board of Adjustment meets at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at West Des Moines City Hall, 4200 Mills Civic Pkwy.

- The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce’s monthly membership luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Des Moines Golf and Country Club, 1600 Jordan Creek Pkwy. Reservations may be made online.
