5 Things for the Weekend: Pandemonium, Pagans, Meditation and Lots of Jazz

The Blues to Keep You Moving
Start the weekend with the energetic, soulful sounds of Final Mix featuring Del (Saxman) Jones Friday at Leonetti’s Bella Cucina in the Palm, 1238 Eighth St. The show, with “the blues to keep you moving and grooving,” starts at 9:30 p.m.

Ohm
A certified teacher of Transcendental Meditation presents three lectures this weekend on the use of the technique to manage stress and for other benefits at Sherinian & Walker Law Firm, 3737 Woodland Ave., Suite 630.

The meditation technique was  introduced to the United States by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the tumultuous 1960s

Pandemonium and Panic
Greg Hahn, the madman from the Bob & Tom Comedy Central Special & Theatre Tour continues through Sunday at the Funny Bone Comedy Club, 560 Prairie View Drive. Shows are at 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. Hahn is billed as having “parlayed his absurdly energetic, all-out style of physical humor into an act where there’s no waiting for the funny – just immediate pandemonium and panic.”

Starstruck Jazz Musicians
Valley Southwoods and Valley High School bands perform at the Community Jazz Center Festival at 2921 Patricia Drive, Urbandale, while the vocal and show choir travel west for the Waukee Star Struck Invitational 2012l. Both events are Saturday.

At day-long the Jazz Festival, each band has 25 minutes on stage and will spend an hour and a half at the festival site. After performing, the bands will have a clinic with a professional jazz musician.

The Waukee Star Struck Invitational 201, held at Waukee High School, 555 S.E. University Ave., begins at 8:30 a.m. Valley’s “Choralation” will be the third choir to take the stage.

Pagans at the Library

The Iowa Pagan Alliance will hold a meeting, open to everyone, from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the second floor classroom of the .
