Mitchell Tenpenny On How Embracing Boundaries Inspired 'Ain't My Problem': 'This Industry Makes You Try to Please Everybody' (billboard.com) — Country singer Mitchell Tenpenny recently debuted his new single "Ain't My Problem" live with a full band at the Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines, giving local fans an early taste of his boundary-setting anthem. The song grew out of his efforts in therapy to say no, and its high-energy production and relatable lyrics are already getting airplay around the country.
3. Serious crash closes I-35/I-80 in Clive; drivers urged to avoid area (kcci.com) — Travelers from West Des Moines should be aware that a serious crash has closed westbound I-80 and southbound I-35 between Hickman Road and University Avenue in Clive, with West Des Moines police helping investigate. Drivers are urged to avoid the area, use alternate routes like Northwest 114th or 128th Streets or I-235, and expect the closure to possibly last into Saturday morning.
4. Patriots tight end Eli Raridon, wife announce death of infant son (wftv.com) — West Des Moines natives Eli and Anna Raridon, who met at Valley High School, are mourning the loss of their infant son after a fatal birth defect. Rob Sand draws 1,800-plus to Polk County event (qconline.com) — A major Iowa gubernatorial campaign stop just took place at Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines, drawing more than 1,800 people to hear Democratic candidate Rob Sand. The coverage focuses on the size and energy of the crowd, contrasting his appearance with a Republican rival's event in Grimes, and underscores how central West Des Moines venues are becoming in the statewide race.
