• West Des Moines showing progress on Legacy Woods nature area (desmoinesregister.com subscription) — West Des Moines residents are invited today at 4:30 p.m. to see how the new 28-acre Legacy Woods nature sanctuary is taking shape along Grand Avenue and what funding is still needed. The city and private donors have already invested millions into trails, an arboretum, wetlands, and future features like a playscape, orchard, and Heritage Center, but are still seeking over $1.1 million in grants.
   

• Iowa State hockey dominates Drake (iowastatedaily.com) — Iowa State's Division III hockey team thrilled fans in West Des Moines by sweeping Drake over the weekend, outscoring the Bulldogs 15-3 across two games. The Cyclones' strong offense and solid goaltending pushed their record to 4-2 as they look ahead to a home-and-away series with Waldorf later this month.
