The Iowa Events Center will be hosting its annual Memorial Day Program on Monday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m. Every year the Iowa Events Center honors and remembers the men and women who gave their lives for our country. The Iowa Events Center invites all to join us as we remember these brave men and women. This year the program will continue the tradition of being held inside Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center at Veterans Memorial.
The Massing of Colors Ceremony, a key component of our programs and a fitting tribute to open each event, still needs the time and dedication of Veterans groups to ensure this program is successful. If your group would like to participate in this opening ceremony please contact me by phone 515-564-8059 or by email ecarannante@iowaeventscenter.com by November 4th so I can acknowledge your group in our official program. We request the following from each post:
- Appoint two members to bring your American Flag, Post Colors, and standards to Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center at Veterans Memorial the day of the event.
- Members should arrive between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. to get standards set in place behind the stage and line up. Line up is merely arranging flags by length of pole, etc.
- There will be someone in the hall to assist in the line up.
- Colors are carried into the room from one side and the American Flags from the opposite side on cue from Presiding Officer on the stage. Flag bearers then return to the audience to be seated for the program and return to retrieve colors at the close of the program, again on cue from the Presiding Officer.
