At Least Two Race Shaping Up in West Des Moines City Elections
Rick Messerschmidt and Edward Ames have announced their intentions to challenge Councilman Ted Ohmart and Councilman Kevin Trevillyan, respectively.

Two members of the West Des Moines City Council will face opposition in the upcoming Nov. 5 municipal elections.
Rick Messerschmidt plans to run against Councilman-at-large Ted Ohmart, who is completing his third term on the City Council, the Des Moines Register reports.
Edward Ames has filed papers for the 1st Ward seat currently held by Councilman Kevin Trevillyan, who is completing his first term.

Ohmart and Trevillyan have filed papers for re-election, as have Mayor Steve Gaer and Russ Trimble, who represents the 3rd Ward.
Trimble is seeking a second four-year term, as is Gaer, who was appointed in 2007 to fill a vacancy.
