Attorney for West Des Moines Payroll Outsourcer Says 2012 Taxes Paid

An attorney representing InFocus Partners said the troubled West Des Moines payroll outsourcing company has paid its outstanding 2012 tax liability in its entirety and is making progress on satisfying its client businesses’ payroll taxes for prior years.

In a written statement, Christopher James, attorney for InFocus Partners’ founder John Vratsinas, said the company’s clients – many of them small business – won’t be responsible for taxes they’ve already paid.

The statement reads:

“InFocus Partners has paid the 2012 liability in its entirety. All liens for 2012 should be released within the next week. We have also secured the necessary funds to fully pay all prior tax liabilities within 90 days. InFocus remains committed to working with the IRS to ensure that InFocus is solely responsible for any taxes owed for prior periods.”

Earlier this month, the IRS filed a nearly $1.2 million federal tax lien against InFocus Partners and its subsidiary, ILC Staffing Inc., seeking to collect payroll taxes that should have been paid during the past two quarters for the outsourcing company’s business clients.

According to lien filings reported by the Iowa Secretary of State, InFocus and its affiliated companies have been behind in tax payments off and on since 2006. The latest filing is part of an overall $3.8 million collection effort.
