2013-14 WDMCS Calendar Approved
The West Des Moines Community Schools Board of Education approves 2013-14 calendar.
Students may be anticipating the upcoming winter break, but the West Des Moines Community Schools Board of Education is already thinking about the first day of school for next year.
In fact, parents and students can circle August 20, 2013 on their calendars as the start of the 2013-14 school year.
The board held a hearing about the calendar and start date on Monday, Dec. 10 and then approved the 2013-14 district calendar. No member of the public spoke during the hearing.

The district had already gathered public input in developing the 2013-14 district calendar through the WDMCS Idea Share, the district’s online community forum.
Approximately 430 people voted on three calendar options provided and were able to offer additional comments about what they would like to see for a calendar. Fifty-three percent selected the recommended calendar.
