Iowa Senior Olympics to Take Place in West Des Moines Beginning May 31, Continuing Through June (Blog)

Registration is now open for the forthcoming Iowa Senior Olympics which will be held this summer at various venues around the Des Moines area. The Games are open to all participants age 50 and up this year. Some of the events include basketball, bowling, track and field, shuffleboard, Pickleball, cycling, tennis, swimming, table tennis and golf. Among the highlights is the annual Granny Basketball tournament, in which teams play six-on-six basketball wearing 1920s' era uniforms.

The registration fee up to May 18 is $35.00; after that date is $40.00. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked no later than June 3 and on-line registrations will end at 6 p.m. on June 7.
