Vote Now for Valley Bullying Prevention Video to Win Governor's Award

Valley High School is one of 23 schools from across the state that have submitted videos to the Governor’s Bullying Prevention Summit Video Contest. The public can vote for its favorite video until Nov. 21 by going here.

The top vote-getter will receive a $500 prize to be used for bullying prevention efforts at their school, along with a visit by Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds for an all-school assembly. The video contest winner will be announced at the Governor’s Bullying Prevention Summit, which will be held Nov. 27 at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines.

The contest was open to all Iowa middle schools and high schools in the state. To participate, schools had to submit a video by Nov. 1 that reflect the theme of “Preventing Bullying in Your School and Beyond. ” Students were asked to tell their school’s story about how bullying is being stopped, what more might be done and how to better engage the community as a whole in bullying prevention efforts.

Valley’s video was produced by the Drama Club and features the school’s recent production of the play KES and the efforts of students to work with their fellow classmates and students at the junior high level to address bullying.
