Burglar Pries Safe Open at Felix and Oscars Restaurant But Leaves Boxes of Alcohol Behind

A thief pried open the door of a safe at the eatery, but forgot to take along two boxes of alcohol.

A burglar was able to pry open a 300-pound safe at Felix and Oscars restaurant, 4801 Westown Parkway, sometime before 9 a.m. on Nov. 11, according to a West Des Moines police report.

An employee reportedly went to open the business, then called police from a neighboring shop to say the restaurant had been ransacked. According to the police report, the thief threw paperwork all over the floors of various rooms, moved the safe and pried open the door, taking the contents.

The business has an alarm which was off when officers arrived; another employee said it had been activated when the restaurant closed the night before. There are no surveillance cameras in the restaurant.
