Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival Full Results: West Des Moines’ Jed Gammel Fourth in Men’s Speed Competition

The 30th Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival – something like the Boston Marathon for Midwest bicyclists – took place over the weekend in Wisconsin.

The race started with 27 riders in 1983.  This year, 1,850 riders rode the 40 miles to finish at Telemark Resort.  Another 900 riders were to start concurrently in downtown Cable in the 16-mile Short & Fat and also finish at Telemark.

Finishing from West Des Moines:

• Jed Gamme, 37, fourth place in the men’s speed division.
• Jean Schmidt, 48, sixth place in the women’s age 45-49 division.
• Ani Trane, 42, eighth place in the women’s age 40-44 divsiion
• Joe Schmidt, 49, 22nd place in the men’s age 45-49 division
• Steve Wiseman, 42, 102nd place in the men’s age 40-44 division.
