City Of West Des Moines Announces Small Business Recovery Grant Recipients

West Des Moines businesses received a total of $86,500, and grants ranged from $1,000 – $5,000 depending on the justification of need.

The City of West Des Moines has announced 36 recipients of the Small Business Recovery Grant program designed to help businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This program is led by the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Polk County and a number of participating municipalities in the Greater Des Moines (DSM) region.

City Manager Tom Hadden said these grants are an excellent way to help small businesses recover as quickly as possible.

“One of the reasons our region appears on so many top lists is because of our ability to work together and invest in a strong business climate,” Hadden said. “We know this process won’t fully address everyone’s need, but it’s an excellent start.”

Award recipients in West Des Moines are: Look at You, LLC, The Sandlot, Fox Brewing, LLC, Xo Nails, Ellie Phillips Therapeutic Massage, Jessica Pak, Ivy Lane Boutique, CycleBar Jordan Creek, PRO NAILS, The Vinyl Studio, Valley Eye Clinic, Artisan Gallery 218LLC, Nikki T LLC, Olson-Larsen Galleries, Kavanaugh Art Gallery, TONIC BAR, Mint LA LLC, Jenna Emerson, Wines of Iowa, Tiji Hair & Nails, Embrace Self Wellness LLC, Flash Apparel, Inc., Beyond Elegance, Bombshell Hair Design LLC, The Keg Stand, Shear Madness Haircuts for Kids, Feel Good Clinics, Crystal Clear Communications, Vino209, LLC, Salon Muse, Fit to be Tied, D.R. Deli & Desserts, Des Moines Shoe Repair, Urban Eyecare and Eyewear, By Invitation Only and Lindaman Orthopaedics.

“The Small Business Recovery Grant program is another example of our public and private sectors coming together to invest in the future of our region,” said Jay Byers, CEO of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “We must continue to support our small businesses as a key strategy of regional economic recovery moving forward.”

“We are thankful for the impact small businesses have in making our region a vibrant place where people want to live,” said Polk County Supervisor Robert Brownell. “This fund was a total community effort, and we are hopeful it will help small businesses toward the path to recovery.”

The grant program is funded through contributions from the City of Des Moines, Polk County, Principal Foundation, EMC Insurance Companies, City of Urbandale, Warren County, City of Johnston, Delta Dental, Meredith Corporation, Nationwide, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa, Wells Fargo Foundation, City of Indianola, City of Norwalk, City of West Des Moines, City of Clive, Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa, Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Fidelity & Guaranty Life, IMT Insurance, City of Windsor Heights, City of Carlisle, Bankers Trust, Kemin Industries, NCMIC Group, Veridian Credit Union, Global Atlantic Financial Group, GuideOne Insurance, Merchants Bonding Company, Ruan Transportation Management Systems and Community Choice Credit Union.
